Woodbridge (Sutton Heath) Families Quarter Estate is located on the former RAF (USAF) Woodbridge and is located 3 miles outside the town of that name. It is 12 miles North East of Ipswich, the county town of Suffolk and 35 miles north of Colchester, the country town of Essex. Road and rail communications to the West and South are very good. North Suffolk is not so well served in this respect although some local residents and casual visitors generally regard this as a point in its favour. There are excellent road links to the A1(M), M11, M1, M6 and all points north. Wattisham Airfield is 35 miles away – a road journey of approximately 45 minutes.
Sutton Heath is located in a designated area of outstanding natural beauty which enjoys the highest annual hours of sunshine; the lowest average annual rainfall and the lowest annual snowfall. Contrary to perceived opinion, East Anglia is not uniformly flat. The Suffolk landscape is a patchwork of large grain fields on the higher ground and pasture land in the river valleys. Overall the local topography is gentle and undemanding for walkers and cyclists. The rivers; Orwell, Deben and Stour (Constable country) offer limitless opportunities for water sports enthusiasts. There are miles of beaches where you can do more of the same or just take your ease under the endless Suffolk summer skies. Those who enjoy the sun on their backs and boundless opportunities to pursue countryside and watersport leisure activities will never be lost for something to do.
